mix. whisk. bake.

channeling my inner Ina.

This past January I did a food demonstration for my co-worker’s “Mommy and Me” group.  It was a lot of fun with a great group of women.  I showed them how to create three easy savory appetizers from Puff Pastry and then we finished off the evening with individual chocolate souffles.  Here I am trying to act like the Barefoot Contessa, explaining how puff pastry is “wonderful” and “who wouldn’t want that?”

I really enjoyed and appreciated the interest that the ladies took in learning all the tips and tricks.  Everyone was listening intently as the first appetizer – brie en croute – was being made.  Who new cheese, pecans and cranberries wrapped in pastry would be so darn good?

The other two recipes included parmesan twists that could easily be turned into cinnamon twists, or cajun twists, or italian twists – you get the picture – and actually one of Ina Garten’s recipes, Ham and Gruyere in Puff Pastry.  They were all sooo good – because everyone knows – butter makes it better!

Finally, we finished off the evening with a dramatic performance from the chocolate souffles.  Chocolate that grows and seems to come alive is super great in my book!  I thank my roomie for capturing great shots of dessert, where it seemed time was of the essence.

Here are more pictures of the food demo.  Fun and learning was had by all.  So, when are YOU going to book your personalized food demo?  Send me an e-mail – let’s arrange something.
